How To Have a Entrepreneurial Merry Christmas

After 55 years, my mother-in-law has never cancelled Christmas, until today.
She’s been sick lately, and she just couldn’t make it happen. So what are 8 children and 7 grandchildren suppose to do? Call it quits or make some last minute plans to have a holiday to remember? The entrepreneur faces these challenges everyday. If something can go wrong it will. The difference is the entrepreneur doesn’t stop. He finds a solution. Like getting stuck in a labrynth on the Legend of Zelda series. There’s always a way out.
In classic Christmas style, here are three ways in which you will never be stopped as an entrepreneur.

KNOW WHERE YOU’VE BEEN — THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST

You may have heard the saying “Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.”

If you don’t know who you are, or where you’ve been, you won’t know what you like and what you don’t like about yourself. You won’t know what to change. You won’t know what you want to get more of. Examine all the things in your life that have gotten you to where you are today. Look at each one as a gift. See how they have impacted your life up to this point. (spend some time on this)

KNOW WHERE YOU ARE — THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT

Now think about what you want to keep the same and what you want to change in your life. Think about what you want more of. And what you want less of. Write those things down and hang it on your wall. Put it on your bathroom mirror. Keep it in your sight.
Make the target something that you want to accomplish and go after with all your might.

There is a story about a man who found a great treasure in a field. He buried it again. He went to town and he sold all he had to buy that field. This is what you must do.

KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING — THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE

This is more than just goals, or a physical destination of somepoint. This is what do you want people to look back on say at your funeral. This is what you want to look back to your past self on your deathbed. This is the point at which you want to say, “I’ve lived my life full of life. It has been exactly the way I wanted to live. I have spent it filling the lives of family and friends. I have used my talents and resources to the best of my ability. I have changed my little part of the world for the better.”

Eventually, the you of today will be the you of the future. Much like the you of the past has become the you of today. All of your thoughts, actions, and split second decisions have gotten you up to this point.  If you want your future to be bright, you must take the action steps necessary to be that person that you want to be. The you of the future begins today. And from who I’m seeing right now, that person looks pretty powerful.

Merry Christmas.
