2 hour CHALLENGE

Okay, For all you lazy bones out there, I’m calling a very special challenge that will take you to the very next level in whatever you are trying to do in life. I call it the 2-Hour CHALLENGE.

CBCebulski just tweeted “I think too many of today’s “top” comic artists have become too complacent with their “perceived”place in this industry. And their styles.” He reminded me that I have been too long in posting this challenge. And I really need to get this out there. If any of you out there are very comfortable and complacent in your life, and you want change, chances are that’s not going to happen without a RADICAL JOLT to your insides. Your MIND and your BODY, if left unattended, thrive on complacency. They love to veg out, sit on the couch, watch the TV, eat fried things. And if you don’t watch those two (MIND AND BODY), they will surely lull you to an early grave, or even worse a long life of unfulfillment.

If you want to change your life, there is only one hope for you. That is your HEART. We have to KICK-START that sucker if you want to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST! “How are we going to do that?” you may ask. Simple: 2 hour challenge! 120 MINUTES A WEEK, you MUST focus your energy on thinking, doing, planning, acting, something that you are not currently doing that is a passion of yours that you MUST DO.

Passions are different for everyone, but whatever your passion is, find it, do it. It may just start out as a thought for this week. But next week, find ways to start to implement ways to DO IT! Put a regular time in your schedule to do what is most PASSIONATE to you. Eventually, when you are aligned with your passion 2 -hours a week won’t be enough. Try for 2 hours a day and it will ooze out of you. People will see it. You will actually have a smile on your face. You should wish you could do it all the time. … If you don’t maybe it really isn’t your passion. I know a few people who say they like to draw comics, but what they really like is just the idea of drawing comics, they don’t really like to do the work… if this is you… find something else.

Your passion doesn’t have to be big, bold, fancy, or complicated. Just fun. Something you love to do,and that is good for you, your heart, your body, and your mind. The TOTAL YOU engaged in LIFE and LIVING. I hope that this will be so addicting in nature that you actually spend more time doing this PASSION than the things that do not cause you to have this same result. It really is the DRUG of CHOICE. Living fully in your passionate gifts that you are good at, or you want to develop. Wow! That will get you high on life.

I recently read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the kids. In the back of the book Roald Dahl gave some of his writing tips. “You should write for 2 hours. Two hours of writing fiction leaves this writer completely drained. For those two hours he has been in a different place with totally different people.” he said. His best time to write was 10-12 and had borrowed some advise from Ernest Hemingway to always put the pen down when you know where the story is going to go. If you get up when you have closed everything, you won’t want to get back to it. You won’t know where to go. (The actual quote is “I learned never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that feed it.”)

All of this inspiration had given me the idea for this challenge.

I have heard about this in other areas before. Such as you should always do the first 2 hours of the day dedicated to do something you love that will result in something good worth doing. If you do the dishes, the laundry, the chores first, then there is never enough time to do the things you want to do. The book never gets written, the pages never get drawn, life passes you by.

And of course, the Pereto Principle may work here as well. 20% of the things you do will give you 80% of the results. So focus on the 20% first when you are fresh.

Do what you love. Love what you do. Grab life by the horns, NOW! take control. Start with 2 hours this week and keep bumping it up as much as you can. You just don’t get tired as much, when you really enjoy what you are doing. Draw! Write! Exercise! Run! Whatever your dream is… take the steps that push you closer to where you want to be, and ENJOY the RIDE! NEVER GIVE UP!

So what is your PASSION? What will you be challenged to do? I’d love to post your successes!
